Position Description Summary

The Project Engineer is the technical lead for new product development as well as providing support for mature programs. The Project Engineer establishes planning, tooling, and customer support for programs of responsibility. The Project Engineer will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.  The primary roles and responsibilities of the Project Engineer are listed below:

Responsibilities:

  • Provides support related to production, and process improvement
  • Involved in design of tooling and fixtures for development and mature programs
  • Responsible for developing planning consistent with customer contract requirements
  • Establishes Specific Job Instructions
  • Coordinates with other engineers and manufacturing personnel to improve existing parts and generate support data to recommend changes
  • Typical projects would include process refinement, cost reduction, scrap reduction, replacement tooling for processing and handling
  • Able to provide technical manufacturing support in other functional areas as needed
  • Development Program project tracking, involving detail drawing release, subcontractor support and management of tool/fixture cost to estimate
  • Technical lead on Program Management Review (PMR), New Product Launch Production Readiness Reviews (PRR) and TProechnical Interchange Meetings (TIM)
  • Create Bill of Material (BOM) for development programs
  • Issue PO requisitions for O/V operations detailing customer requirements and in house specifications
  • Assist in evaluating and qualifying /re-qualifying suppliers through Statement of Work review (SOW) and Production Readiness Reviews at suppliers

Qualifications:

  • Should demonstrate strong problem solving skills
  • Experienced in new product launch and adherence to project plans for deliverables
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting production as well as R&D projects
  • Ability to manage several projects at a time
  • Experience in creating detailed Work Instructions and Product Criteria Instructions
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
  • 5 years experience in manufacturing engineering role
  • Skilled at working directly with operators as well as working with technical counterparts
  • Solid modeling and design background a plus
  • Pro E experience a plus
  • Must be a US citizen
