The idea of an impossibly large mansion plays into the horror trope space we were exploring, so that's what got greenlit: A new plane 70's and 80's horror film inspired (and the technology level that came with that) A set that takes place solely inside a single mansion In exploratory design, the first question we asked was, "How do we keep this world from mechanically stepping on the toes of the planes of Innistrad and New Phyrexia?" Early on, we realized the horror we wanted to evoke relied on a specific mood and tone
The kind of stuff we might play in limited even if it didn't have delve5G for a 4/4 Trample, or 5B for a 4/5 with a grindy ability
And as with any year, some of the precons were great, some were not so good, and many were in between
For those of you who dont consider a digital card different than a paper card, you might like to know that if we look to unique cards (Alchemy, different unique looks and treatments, etc.) on MTGO and Arena, we end up with 7,367 fully unique digital cards with no equivalent in paper
