EUROPEAN CHILD'S RING, SIZE 3 1/2 03/23 This example is lightly surface11th 12th century. Collected in the Holy Land dating it to pre 1187. Size 3 1 2. Narrow band flared at the shoulder. Rounded rectangular bezel probably defaced by the Saracens leaving a smooth polished surface. Deep glossy patina is typical of desert burial. Children accompanied the Crusaders as attendants and animal keepers. The concept of a Children's Crusade (in 1212) is now largely rejected by scholars.
