The card also functions as a strong competitive piece with its Golden Flame ability, which attaches two fire energies to your benched Ethan's Pokemon each turn and sets up the rest of the Ethan archetype's attack chain

This makes senseSelesnya and Golgari both rely heavily on creatures (and Golgaris mechanic basically punishes you for every non-creature spell you put in your deck), and Boros runs the risk of being too strong if its disruption suite is powerful

It also puts the creature into play, unlike Worldly Tutor or the expensive reserved list Survival of the Fittest
