Antique Silk Embroidered Panel with Appliqués: C19th Rescht, Persia Art Deco textile There are some signs ofA lovely panel of Rescht polychrome embroidery dating from the 19th century. Made from fine woollen broadcloth (possibly Stroud?) which looks like appliqu but is in fact a complicated process where shapes are cut out from the ground cloth and different colours pieces are inset inset to the space. This is incredibly skilled work as the pieces have to exactly match the cut out holes. Once inset they are embroidered in place with silk thread tambour
